Daniel Radcliffe recently had a heartwarming reunion with his former stunt double, David Holmes, who was tragically left paralyzed after a freak accident on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows set in 2009. Holmes, who had been Radcliffe’s stunt double since the first film in the series, was performing a ‘jerk-back’ stunt when the accident occurred, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down.
Holmes, who was told he’d have limited mobility in his arms and hands, has remained close to Radcliffe ever since. In a recent interview, Holmes reflected on their deep friendship, recalling that they grew up together, with Radcliffe not only serving as his co-star but also as his PE teacher. “One of my greatest pleasures is having him in my life,” Holmes shared.

Ahead of the release of his documentary, David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, Radcliffe took time to visit Holmes in the UK, where they reconnected and reminisced about their shared experiences. Holmes posted pictures of their reunion on social media, expressing his joy over catching up with Radcliffe and seeing him thrive as a father. The two also discussed everything from films and TV shows to their latest musical discoveries.
During the visit, Holmes was joined by Marc Mailley, who had taken on the role of Radcliffe’s stunt double for the later Harry Potter films. Holmes also shared that Radcliffe had signed copies of his book, which he plans to auction for charity in the future. Their bond remains strong, with Holmes expressing his gratitude for the enduring friendships he’s formed with not only Radcliffe but also other members of the Harry Potter cast.

The emotional reunion highlighted the depth of their friendship, showing that even after such a life-changing accident, Holmes continues to be surrounded by the support and love of his Harry Potter family.
