Fahruddin Kaki Bravo, founder of the Bosnian rescue organization Save Stray Animals, saw a miserable little puppy on the side of the road as he approached the shelter. He stopped to check on the baby’s condition. Even though deep down he knew it was an abandoned puppy, seeing it up close broke his heart.
When the rescuer approached, the puppy became frightened. He tried to escape, but he could not because his back legs were injured. Instead, he pulled his lower half out and hid behind a bush.
Kaki, determined to help, followed the puppy, who later named him Goldie. Try to reassure him and tell him that he means no harm. Despite the ensuing turmoil, he managed to calm him down and hold him in his arms.
Kaki decided to take Goldie to the vet’s office first before bringing him home. He knew he had to suffer, and he didn’t want him to suffer any longer. He let him ride on his lap because he knew it made him feel protected.
Veterinarians examined Goldie and discovered that his injuries were at least two weeks old. They didn’t know the cause of his physical injuries, but they were serious enough to cause paralysis. His nerves were destroyed and his reproductive organs were severely injured.
Kaki wished Goldie to enjoy a regular and happy life. Unfortunately, it was too late to save the puppy’s legs because he did not receive immediate medical attention. Regardless of his disability, he enjoyed excellent health, reason enough to persevere.
The rescuer did everything he could to help the puppy. He raised money to cover his medical bills and built him a homemade wheelchair. He raised him and then found him his perfect partner when he was ready.
Goldie moved home with his foster mother, Jasmina Gerstner, a month after his rescue. He fell in love with her the moment they met, and was happy that she welcomed him into his home.
Goldie deserves a second chance at life. He has now been adopted by a loving woman and will live happily for the rest of his life!
