The heartbroken mother of Holly Bramley, a young woman brutally murdered by her husband, has spoken out in a recent interview about the horror that led to her daughter’s tragic death. Holly, 26, was killed in March 2023 by her husband, Nicholas Metson, who dismembered her body into 224 pieces. He then, with the help of his friend Joshua Hancock, disposed of her remains in the River Witman in Lincolnshire, UK. Her remains were later discovered by a passerby, sparking an investigation that would uncover the horrific details of her murder.
A Gruesome Crime
At Metson’s trial in 2024, Lincoln Crown Court heard chilling details about the murder. It was revealed that Metson had stabbed Holly at least four times in their bedroom before storing her dismembered body in their kitchen larder. Afterward, he contacted Hancock, offering him £50 to assist in disposing of the remains. Initially, Metson lied to the police, claiming he didn’t know where Holly had gone. However, after the investigation unfolded, Metson admitted to the crime, and he was sentenced to a minimum of 19 years and 316 days in prison. Hancock, who helped with the disposal, was sentenced to three years and three months for his role, along with a 10-year sexual harm prevention order for an unrelated offense.
A Mother’s Warnings
Holly’s mother, Annette Bramley, has previously called Metson an “evil monster” and now speaks out, revealing that she had long suspected her daughter was in danger. “I knew he would kill her,” Annette told The Daily Mail. “I told the police he would murder her. I told anyone who would listen. Her family could all see it, but nobody could stop it.”
According to Annette, Metson, who had been in a relationship with Holly since she was 17, systematically isolated her from her family. He moved her 50 miles away from their home, making Holly believe that her family no longer cared for her. Annette described her daughter as vulnerable and naive, often taking advantage of Holly’s child-like innocence.
Signs of Danger
Annette recalls a horrifying incident when Holly came to her in distress, telling her that Metson had killed their puppy by putting it in the washing machine and turning it on. Holly managed to rescue the dog but was forced to watch as Metson then drowned it in the shower. Annette expressed her fear for her daughter’s safety, saying she begged Holly to leave him. Tragically, Holly did not listen, and more alarming signs of Metson’s cruelty began to surface.
Annette later learned of other instances of animal abuse committed by Metson, including drowning three kittens, putting Holly’s hamster in a food processor, and killing a cat, which he buried in the front garden. Despite these disturbing acts, Holly refused to press charges against Metson, leaving her mother desperate to intervene.
“I can’t explain how terrified I was for her safety,” Annette said. “The animal abuse was such an obvious sign of what could happen next, but Holly didn’t want to listen.”
The Final Days
Before her tragic death, Metson allegedly put Holly in a headlock, and in a desperate attempt to escape, she bit his arm. Following her death, Metson used Holly’s social media accounts to deceive her family and friends into thinking she was still alive, further prolonging the agony for her loved ones.
Annette reflected on the painful memory, saying, “I’m just thankful they never had children together. To me, the cruelty to animals was a clear warning, but no one would listen, not even Holly.”

Judge Simon Hirst, who presided over Metson’s sentencing, noted that the cause of death could not be definitively established due to how Metson had treated Holly’s body after killing her.
